In 1984 Buckaroo Banzai was released with 2 sequels planned to follow, as evidenced in the end credits which read, "Watch for the next adventure of Backaroo Banzai: Backaroo Banzai against The World Crime Leaugue". This never happened because Buckaroo Banzai's Box Office was so poor, that it bankrupted Sherwood Studios, only to become a cult film phenomenon with Sci-Fi fans!
